This first writing sample is a press release I composed and sent from the 48th Ward Office alerting the public that Ald. Manaa-Hoppenworth had made a final decision regarding the upzoning of Broadway in the 48th Ward and that she, Ald. Clay, and Ald. Martin would be introducing the zoning ordinances to the Chicago City Council the following week.

This second writing sample is a letter from Ald. Manaa-Hoppenworth to her constituency in response to the federal administration’s initial threats to deploy the National Guard to Chicago. I drafted this statement for the newsletter and shared it on the 48th Ward blog.
